THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EPIDERMIS
The outer part of our skin consists of a stratified epithelium, which is called the epidermis.
The cells which compose it continuously renew themselves, moving up from the bottom (basal layer) to the surface (stratum corneum) – in an average time of 28 days – and gradually developing a fiber protein called keratin.
Even though it is only 10 micron thick and translucent, the stratum corneum is extremely strong and resistant. It acts as a relatively impermeable membrane that:

  • minimizes the entry of environmental chemical contaminants
  • prevents an excessive loss of water
  • protects the skin

The description of the stratum corneum has been given particular prominence because a well organised structure of this outer epidermal layer is essential to obtain healthy skin and a good hydrolipidic balance.

NOURISHING AND MOISTURIZING THE SKIN
The stratum corneum has a low water content (10-20%) compared to the underlying tissues (70%): when it is dehydrated, as well as having a rough and opacque appearance, it causes an alteration in the skin barrier function, which can easily give rise to irritation, rash, cracks and itching.
The necessity to find the correct “cosmetic treatment” for skin which tends to be dehydrated with an altered lipid content in its cutaneous barrier is therefore evident. The aim isn’t just to have a fresher, smoother, and more radiant skin, but also to preserve the skin barrier function, and prevent phenomena connected to dryness, such as itching, easy irritation, increased sensitivity, decreased flexibility and elasticity.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CLEANSING
Skin health and beauty begin with good cleansing, done on a daily basis, morning and evening, using delicate cleansers and dermacosmetic cloths with microfiber.
In the morning, to remove sebum built up during the night and possible residues of creams or other products used. In the evening, to eliminate impurities accumulated during the day, due to air pollution, sweat or sebum and make-up or make-up residues.

WHY FACE AND BODY PRODUCTS
The skin is the most extensive organ of our body

  • 2 m² circa is the area of the skin’s surface
  • 3,5 kg is the weight of the skin (it is the heaviest organ of our body)

The skin is a “magic” organ with many different and essential functions: protective, sensory, respiratory, defensive, thermoregulatory.
Due to environmental agents, constitutional factors, improper use of cosmetics and the passing of time, the face and body skin can suffer different changes: dryness, dehydration and sensitization.
The philosophy of the Longé products revolves around the respect of a “skin-organ” concept: they are designed and formulated to be used both over the Face and the Body, not just semplifying the dermacosmetic treatment, but also actively working all over the skin, thus guaranteeing a complete, synergic, functional, safe action.

THE LIPS: THE MOST DELICATE LAYER OF OUR SKIN
Lips lack the top layer of the skin, which contains keratin and therefore lips are more delicate and exposed to atmospheric and environmental factors. This can cause annoying dryness. The continuous wetting of lips can also be responsible for chapping and small cuts which tend to worsen as much in winter as in the summer.
It is therefore important to protect lips with very nourishing, moisturizing and preservative free products, which contain safe ingredients, such as vegetable butters and oils and which above all, do not cause harm if accidentally swallowed, given where they are applied.
